Memoirs of an Edwardian Adventuress by JohannesVIII Memoirs of an Edwardian Adventuress by JohannesVIII
Following The Girl Who Never Was: Charley has left the first volume of her journal (“Memoirs of an Edwardian adventuress”) in the TARDIS. Eight finds it, wants to throw it away, but can’t bring himself to do so.

Like the sad comic I made about Nine sending distress messages, this one prompted a couple of rather extreme reactions from various Tumblr rebloggers. Not as many (far from it), but still, I've recently seen tags like: "HOW DARE YOU" "how about no" "NOT OKAY" "WHO TOLD YOU THIS WAS OK" "IN WHAT DARK FORSAKEN CORNER OF THE GALAXY IS THIS OK" "why would anyone do this" "go away" "YOU STOP THAT THIS INSTANT"

And my favorite: "LET'S NOT TALK ABOUT THIS"

This was my first exposure to this idea (I haven't been able to bring myself to listen to Charley's last stories yet, she's one of my favorites) so I think this was amazing. Thank you for doing this.

And I love the drawings, no words, just emotions. That's an accomplishment. (Especially with me having no previous exposure to the story.)

Thank you!
To be honest, I tend to struggle with words, so sometimes it's simpler for me to make something without text.

Whyyyy ;( I don't know which one I find the saddest - this or the one I asked for. They both make my eyes teary. I wish there was a way for him to find out the truth. It can't stay like this, it's too cruel. ;(

It is cruel, unfair, easily avoidable and tragic. But, as I said somewhere else, writing such an exit was brave and I really admire that choice. So I want it to stay like this.

Yeah.  I was a bit annoyed when they undercut Clara's exit in the Christmas special.
That was the best part of the whole finale.  really well-done scene.

BTW, I did actually freeze a bit when he raised the book up.
Glad he kept it.  I'll just file this comic under head-canon :)

AMEN. I thought it was a very good exit for Clara, very touching, and I was seriously disappointed when it turned out to be a dream. If her actual exit (please let that be in the next season) isn't as good, they've wasted a perfectly good one here.

I'm glad you liked the comic :)

Or even her ending in "Death in Heaven" where the two friends lie to help each-other.
Given their dysfunctional relationship, that was a very sad ironic way to end things.
So that's two endings they squandered.

Well to be fair I started to draw this after re-listening to The Girl Who Never Was and having some sort of "too many feels" attack, so...
