I saw Eddie Izzard's stand up last Saturday at the Théâtre de Dix Heures.
It was awesome. Even in French. It was also a bit strange to be in such a small theater, it almost felt like a classroom (there was something like 100-110 persons but it was crowded).
And then we learned how the Stone Age probably began, how a giant squid writes his journal, what policemen would do if velociraptors could drive cars, and what exactly is on the dark side of the moon (Darth Vador and the Pink Floyd). And many more things
He also kept joking about the fact that the street in which the theater was, in the Pigalle district, was full of sex shops but also full of pharmacies (and how it could be related)
That was such an epic evening.
Now for something completely different: the new set for Magic: the Gathering, New Phyrexia
... is incredible. I don't mean the mechanics or even the cards themselves (they are, but that's not the point), I mean the atmosphere. The Phyrexians conquered Mirrodin, which means they are now seen in the five colors of Magic, even the most positive ones. The result, much to my delight, is really strange, twisted imagery.
And Elesh Norn... Wow. Just wow. [link]
Also, this song is pretty epic and very fantasy-like. I listened to it while I was building my deck at the New Phyrexia
prerelease and it helped to set the mood of an endangered world conquered by the Phyrexians [link]Work in progress:
